Terms of Use
Ember Terms of Use
Effective 2026-10-20 · Contact realnoma@naver.com
1. Scope
These terms apply to the Ember app and components created by Ember: its EmberCore engine, including Ember Flow, Forge, Tone, Flare, Pulse, Boost, Lens and Guard; Ember-trained models; and the Ember character and artwork (the “Ember Proprietary Parts”).
Open-source components bundled with Ember are governed by their respective licenses. These terms do not limit any rights those licenses grant. The list and full texts are available in Settings › Licenses & Notices in the app and on the website’s license page.
2. License grant
Subject to these terms, Ember grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Ember on Macs you own or control. Ember retains the copyright and all other rights in the Ember Proprietary Parts.
3. Restrictions (Ember Proprietary Parts)
Except as permitted by these terms or applicable law, you may not copy, redistribute, sell, rent, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Ember Proprietary Parts, extract them for use in another product, or remove copyright or license notices.
You may not use Ember for unlawful purposes or to infringe the rights of others.
4. Rights for LGPL components
Components under the GNU LGPL, such as Wine, DXMT, GStreamer and FFmpeg, are included as separate libraries. You may modify them or replace them with versions you rebuild, under their respective licenses.
Under LGPL 2.1 section 6, you may reverse engineer Ember to the extent needed to modify LGPL components for your own use and debug those modifications. This permission applies only to modifying, replacing and debugging LGPL components; it grants no other right to reverse engineer or redistribute the Ember Proprietary Parts.
Source code for LGPL components is available from the source page, or on request to realnoma@naver.com for 3 years from the date you received Ember.
5. Games and third-party services
Ember does not sell or provide games. Games, launchers and game accounts are governed by their providers’ terms. You may use Ember only to run games you are legally entitled to use.
Apple components you install separately, such as D3DMetal, are governed by Apple’s license agreements.
6. AI features
The Ember assistant’s answers and voice output are machine-generated and may be wrong. Do not rely on them for important decisions.
AI models downloaded in Settings are governed by their respective licenses. The Supertonic 3 voice model is subject to the use restrictions in Attachment A of OpenRAIL-M.
7. License and usage policy checks; suspension
To verify licenses and keep Ember safe to use, the app receives a signed usage policy from the Ember license server at launch and at regular intervals afterward. One license key works on up to 2 Macs; deactivating a Mac in the app frees its seat.
If a released version has a serious problem, or a device or license is refunded, misused or in breach of these terms, Ember may stop new game launches for that version or device. The app explains why and how to update. You can use Ember again once a fixed update is available or the reason is resolved.
This action does not delete your dataincluding games, bottles, game saves or settings, and does not close games already running. Offline, the last received policy applies; if none was ever received, nothing is blocked. Information exchanged for these checks and Send Logs are covered by the Privacy Policy.
If use is stopped for a reason that is not your fault, such as a problem in a released version, a 1-year update license has its update deadline extended by the length of the suspension. This does not apply to lifetime update licenses, which have no update deadline.
8. Disclaimer of warranty
Ember is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ember makes no warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, and does not guarantee that every game will run or achieve any particular performance.
Please keep your own backups of game saves and data.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Ember is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or loss of data, arising from its use. This does not apply to damage caused by Ember’s intent or gross negligence, or where consumer protection law does not permit such a limitation.
10. Termination
If you breach these terms, your license ends and you must delete Ember. Your rights in open-source components continue under their respective licenses.
11. Changes and governing law
Changes to these terms will be announced on the website and in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
